Susquehanna Hemp Company: Locally and Sustainably Produced Pennsylvania CBD

Just like CBD itself, not all CBD companies are created equal.

There are those that are obviously out to make a profit, as well as those that have immersed themselves in the CBD space to truly make a difference. Susquehanna Hemp Company is one of the latter.

With the sheer magnitude of CBD companies that have recently hit the scene, discovering a company that’s unique is always nice to find.

When we recently discovered this Pennsylvania-based small business, we couldn’t wait to learn more. Following is what we found.

Who is Susquehanna Hemp?

Hemp Field

Based in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, in the Susquehanna Valley, Susquehanna Hemp Company is a self-described “local, sustainable, and awesome” group of individuals and products.

Part of their mission is to empower regional agriculture, which they do by contracting with local hemp farmers in their area to grow hemp crops sustainably.

Susquehanna Hemp Company’s facility is within miles of the Susquehanna River, one of the oldest in the world, that flows more than 700 miles through Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania.

What does Susquehanna mean, exactly?

The word “Susquehanna” is derived from the Native American word “Sisa’we’had’hanna” (meaning River Oyster).

Before the arrival of white settlers, Native Americans of the region depended on the Susquehanna River as a source of food and a way to travel.

Susquehanna Hemp CBD Products

Susquehanna Hemp Company has kept things simple and offers two options for CBD products.

They’ve got a tincture and a hemp herbal salve. They also carry a handful of hemp products made by Susquehanna Mills.

Let’s take a closer look.

Full Spectrum Hemp Oil/400mg ($40.00), 1200mg ($100)

Susquehanna Hemp

Susquehanna Hemp Company offers CBD oil in two different sizes.

400mg and 1200mg. Each contain 40mg CBD/ml. The 1200 mg size is available in five different flavors:

  • Natural Hemp
  • Orange
  • Lime
  • Peppermint
  • Spearmint

The 400 mg size is available in three flavors:

  • Natural Hemp
  • Orange
  • Peppermint

Susquehanna Hemp Company’s full-spectrum oil contains all the other beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes found in hemp and contains less than 3% THC.

We were lucky to try all of Susquehanna Hemp’s oils, except for spearmint. Here’s our honest take on what we found.

Aroma and Taste

It’s no secret that we love a natural tasting CBD oil

Susquehanna’s Natural Hemp option didn’t disappoint. It both smells and tastes very similar to the hemp plant itself.

Earthy, strong, and packed with all-natural goodness.

For those who don’t enjoy the natural taste of hemp, Susquehanna Hemp has a solution.

The peppermint flavor tastes just like peppermint but does have a hint of earthy taste to it.

The orange flavor is decidedly citrus-tasting. Like the peppermint oil, it has a bit of natural hemp taste that lingers on the palette.

The lime flavor was the least hemp tasting of them all, offering a tart lime taste without the natural overtones of the hemp oil itself.

Color

In case you weren’t aware, the color of CBD oil can tell you a lot about the quality of the oil itself.

CBD oil can range from clear to golden to dark green and dark brown. Generally, the darker the oil, the less processing that has taken place.

When a CBD oil is golden, it’s an indication of true quality.

Susquehanna Hemp Company’s oil is exactly that. A medium golden liquid full of all the benefits CBD contains.

Price

Susquehanna Hemp Company’s prices are comparable to other CBD oils on the market.

With both a $40 and $100 option, it’s easy to purchase a CBD oil that suits your budget.

Susquehanna Hemp offers the option to order and purchase online through their website.

Aside from their CBD oil, Susquehanna Hemp also offers a topical option.

Susquehanna Hemp Company’s Full Spectrum Oil Topical Salve is available in both a cooling birch and warming cayenne/peppermint formula.

Each ½ ounce stick contains 50mg of CBD to soothe areas on your body where you need relief the most.

This CBD salve is crafted by local makers with all-natural ingredients.

What exactly is in Susquehanna CBD salve?

According to their website, salve ingredients include: Susquehanna Mills’ expeller pressed oils, local beeswax, organic or wild-harvested herbs, and excessive amounts of love.

What did we think?

First off, we love the small deodorant-like sticks that Susquehanna Hemp’s salves come in.

They’re really easy to apply and are the perfect size for taking on the go.

If you’re a fan of CBD topicals and haven’t yet tried CBD in a stick, we highly recommend this product.

We tried both Susquehanna Hemp Warming Salve and Birch Salve. We felt relief from both after about 20 minutes of application.

The Warming Salve wasn’t quite as strong as some others we’ve tried, but it did offer a mild warming sensation.

We found the Birch Salve to provide relief to our achy shoulders, where we typically hold the most tension.

Like CBD, birch is known for its ability to soothe achy joints and relieve the pain associated with arthritis.

Susquehanna Hemp Company: All-Natural, Locally Produced CBD from Pennsylvania

Hemp Plant

Susquehanna Hemp is a CBD company with a mission to provide sustainable, locally-made products with an emphasis on serving their local community with pride.

The hemp used to source Susquehanna Hemp’s high quality CBD oil is grown using sustainable farming practices by farmers in the region.

Susquehanna Hemp is currently working with local farmers to cultivate crops of industrial hemp and develop sustainable CBD extraction processes.

Do we recommend Susquehanna Hemp Company to others?

You bet.

Not only do they offer high quality CBD, but we’re always down for supporting small businesses where we can.
