The Pros and Cons of Vaping CBD Oil

You may have heard about CBD. Whether it is mentioned on the news, from your friends, or even on mainstream television, CBD is becoming more popular every day.

But what is CBD exactly?

CBD is also known as Cannabidiol and is one of the many healthy cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.

Because CBD comes from the cannabis plant, its use in society is often controversial and the center of attention for news stories and everyday conversation. However, doctors, scientists, and researchers have made careers out of demonstrating the benefits of CBD and how it can help a person cope with the struggles of daily life.

CBD has been cited by medical professionals to help with issues such as epilepsy, anxiety, insomnia, as well as in some extreme cases, even cancer.

Although CBD may have benefits, the most optimal way to use it remains controversial.

One popular way to use it, is vaping it. Today we will look at all the pros and cons of vaping CBD oil.

Pros of Vaping CBD Oil

CBD oils can be consumed in a variety of ways. Some of the ways that CBD oil can be consumed is through capsules, edibles (such as brownies, gummy bears, or cookies), and even CBD-based beverages. However, one of the most common ways of ingesting CBD is vaping it.

1. Health Benefits

The research dictates, and many doctors would support the notion, that CBD has countless health benefits. The reason that the hemp/marijuana/CBD industry has taken off in recent years is due in large part to the fact these substances have a relaxing and calming effect on the body (mentally and physically).

Although many trials are in the clinical stage, there are countless studies that show that CBD and cannabis-based products can help to ease the side effects of many diseases such as cancer, reduces stress and anxiety, can help with insomnia and sleep apnea, and even help to lower high blood pressure.

One of the most significant benefits of CBD is that it has anti-inflammatory properties, in other words, the ability to reduce swelling of muscles and joints throughout the body. A study published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine found that CBD significantly reduces chronic inflammation and is a more natural alternative to over-the-counter drugs for pain relief. CBD can help people with the aches and pains of everyday life.

If you have ever had a surgery and experienced chronic pain following it, or if your joints get a bit achy when it rains, CBD may help to alleviate the discomfort.

If you have had surgeries, muscle issues, or joint pains in the past, consider CBD after a discussion with your doctor to see if it can help you with your medical issues.

Now, one of the most effective ways to get all these health benefits associated with CBD, is vaping CBD vape oil.

CBD vape oil can be purchased in various potency levels from 250 mg per bottle up to 1000 mg per bottle. If you are using CBD to treat chronic pain or another health condition, you may need a high-potency dose.

Quick note: although vaping CBD hemp oil does not get you high, it is best to consult with your doctor to determine a suitable dosage as a treatment for chronic pain.

2. Fast Absorbing

One of the reasons CBD vape oil has become so popular in today’s society is that the results are almost instant. After vaping CBD oils in a CBD “pen” or “cartridge” one can quickly feel the relaxation sweep over the body as the benefits of the substance begin to take effect immediately.

By vaping CBD, it’s absorbed into the body through your bloodstream, rather than your digestive system. It’s automatically inhaled and sent to your lungs, which then take the CBD molecules and redistribute them throughout your bloodstream. Once in your bloodstream, you will begin to feel the effects of the CBD. Fast absorption can alleviate anxiety attacks and pain flare-ups very quickly.

Inhaling CBD by vaping also comes with a higher bioavailability than other consumption methods which means more of it is absorbed into the body compared to other methods (with the same amount of CBD).

Side note: Another way to quickly feel the effects of CBD is by vaping a high-CBD strain in a vaporizer made to vape dry herb.

3. Convenience

Another benefit of vaping CBD oil is the convenience and portability of the equipment used to inject the substance. Vaping is easy…all you need is CBD vape oil and a vaporizer to vape it.

All vapes have certain components in common that help them to operate. Those components are a battery, heating element, the mouthpiece, and a compartment to hold the oils you will be inhaling.

What is great about these devices is that they are small enough to fit into your pocket or purse and vaping has seen such widespread popularity that people are unlikely to question you about the substance you are vaping or why you are taking it.

Vaping CBD is also discreet because it doesn’t give off a strong smell.

Additionally, vaping equipment creates little smoke, as compared to traditional cigarettes, or other equipment used to ingest substances. Many people often vape indoors, but please check your local laws to ensure that when you are vaping in a public place, your local laws permit vaping or smoking.

Cons of Vaping

1. Health Risks Still Exist

When vaping, you should always be careful about your technique and how much juice you are inhaling at one time and at temperatures you’re heating the juice. People with pre-existing health conditions, especially those with lung conditions, should be cautious when vaping CBD oils as fits of coughing and potentially even nausea can exist from over-inhalation of CBD oils.

Another health risk is the use of toxic thinning agents in CBD vape oils. CBD extract is too viscous to be used in vape pens so thinning agents are used to treat the concentrate, so it can be vaped efficiently.

Two common thinning agents are polyethylene glycol and propylene glycol which can potentially break down into carcinogenic compounds when they reach excessively high temperatures.

A study in the International Journal of Environmental Research found that inhaling even low concentrations of propylene glycol induced respiratory complications like asthma and allergic reactions.

While many vapers argue that propylene glycol is actually safe, we’re still not convinced. There isn’t enough data yet to know for sure. We will keep looking into this topic for you and report back whatever we find for your benefit.

One way to avoid propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, or any other thinning agent is to vape dry herb flowers or get products made with 100% vegetable glycerin, otherwise called VG.

The important thing to keep in mind is if you want to avoid thinning agents or additives in your vape product, you can always check the ingredients and ask the manufacturer of your product exactly how it’s made.

Always consult your doctor before using CBD oils and vaping, especially if you have a condition that could be made worse from it. Do careful research and make sure you are using a product you have determined to be safe.

2. Addiction

Although doctors have determined that CBD is not addictive in and of itself and can even be used to treat addictions, the act of vaping itself has been found by many to be addictive.

People often become obsessed with the concept of inhaling the CBD vapor because it is so easy and convenient as opposed to traditional ingestion methods.

Final Thoughts on Pros and Cons of Vaping CBD

Although CBD may have its pros and cons, it is undisputed the trend is catching on, and that vaping is where our society is trending. High-quality CBD vape oils may help to alleviate stress, pain, and even create a state of mindfulness even among the most anxious individuals.
